That capital is now being aimed toward fusion — the long-sought course of that powers the solar and guarantees nearly limitless, carbon-free power as booming AI-driven data heart development fuels renewed curiosity in nuclear energy.

TAE Technologies, based in 1998, has spent more than twenty years quietly pursuing an unconventional path to fusion energy.

Originally generally known as Tri Alpha Energy, the company focuses on aneutronic fusion — a kind of nuclear fusion by which a minimal quantity of the power that is releasedis carried by neutrons.

The technology makes use of hydrogen and boron fuel, a response that produces far less radioactive waste than conventional fusion approaches.

Unlike government-backed fusion tasks that depend on large reactors, TAE is developing a compact, linear system generally known as a field-reversed configuration, or FRC.

The company says its latest experimental device has sustained plasma at temperatures exceeding 70 million levels Celsius — a key technical milestone.
