AI giants Anthropic, Google and OpenAI to fulfill with White House to speak regs Tuesday

As AI stays at the middle of heated debate in Washington, the White House is internet hosting reps from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI for a confab on new rules on Tuesday, sources told The Post.

They’ll focus on a forthcoming framework on how AI makers can voluntarily submit their fashions to the authorities before releasing them to the public or business companions, the two sources said Monday of the assembly, which was first reported by news site The Information.

The assembly – to be hosted by the executive-branch Office of the National Cyber Director, an company within the govt department – is available in the wake of a June govt order that set an Aug. 1 deadline for completion of the framework. The coverage has been finalized and the assembly is meant to debate next steps in the rollout, according to The Information.

The assembly is predicted to incorporate staffers for the AI giants instead of their high-profile executives, the outlet reported, including that it wasn’t clear whether or not the White House will take public suggestions before releasing the final coverage.

A White House official didn’t specify to The Information whether or not the framework is definitely in impact already.

Anthropic’s development of Mythos – an AI mannequin that the company didn’t release to the public because of potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities – initially triggered the govt order from the Trump administration. 

The White House sought a voluntary association for AI corporations to work with the authorities to identify dangers of their latest fashions, half of a broader effort to restrict federal regulation of the tech to a light contact. The govt order directed a number of companies to develop the framework within 60 days, including defining which fashions can be under its scope.

In the days since the order, the Trump administration has taken a more hands-on method with the main AI corporations, drawing some criticism from each industry executives and coverage specialists.

That criticism intensified after the White House positioned export controls on Fable, the public version of Anthropic’s Mythos mannequin, and directed OpenAI to stagger the rollout of its latest mannequin, GPT-5.6.

The framework is meant to create clearer plans for how and to what extent AI corporations coordinate with the authorities before releasing new fashions. The administration has been listening to suggestions from corporations on the coverage since June and supplied an early draft to OpenAI, Anthropic and Google in July, according to The Information.

OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman reportedly flew to Washington last week to fulfill with senior White House officers, including National Cyber Director Sean Cairncross and Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios, to debate the framework. Also on the desk had been the company’s new mannequin, Astra, and other topics.

Executives from other corporations have also met with senior Trump officers to work by means of unresolved points in the framework, including whether or not it should tackle open-source fashions particularly, The Information added.
